Centre For Women and Child Rights
The Centre for Women and Child Rights is a collaborative effort of legal minds with an aim to bring supremacy of law into play and to implement them while serving the needs of women and child by uplifting their rights. This Centre is established to work as a specialized multi-disciplinary research centre of National Law University, Tripura. The Centre administers programmes directed towards equal justice for women and children, and facilitate the active discourse and deliberation in the field of women and child rights. The Centre is committed to create the forum for disclosure on varied perspectives of gender equality and protection of rights of women and children and address issues relating to violence against them.
Vision and Mission
With changing dimensions of society law works as a tool for social transformation by the administrative fiat which protects the rights and dignity of the women and children. This Centre contributes to such nuances of rights and dignity to enhance the cooperation and create an environment friendly society where the women and children can claim and realize their rights.
MANDATE
- Research and Awareness Initiatives
- Acknowledge the need for extensive research on the rights of women and children.
- Undertake initiatives, both physical and virtual, to educate and raise awareness about the rights of women and children in the society.
- Social Justice and Quality of Life
- Ensure social justice and promote the values of a quality life for all women and children.
- Focus particularly on education, care, and protection.
- Empowerment and Human Rights Approach
- Enable women and children to be recognized as rights holders.
- Assist in the adoption of a human rights approach into law, policy, and practice.
- Contribution to Law and Policy Making
- Contribute to the development of laws and policies by engaging with duty bearers responsible for the implementation of laws related to women and children.

The Centre for Women and Child Rights, NLUT organized an Expert Lecture on “Child Rights Litigation and POCSO,” which was delivered by Adv. Kumar Shailabh, Child Rights Lawyer and who is associated with HAQ: Centre for Child Rights, a Delhi based NGO on August 30, 2024.
